Role and Profile of key people
PhD Susana de la Rosa (F): Researcher in the Laboratory of Applied Microbiology at the División Académica de Ciencias Biológicas of the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, México. She works in the isolation and identification of environmental microorganims and evaluation of their biotechnological potential with special emphasis in the search of metabolites such as biosurfactants (lipopeptides) applied to prevent the deteriorating action of microbial biofims. She is a specialist in antimicrobial essays of various advanced materials (organic and inorganic) and has more than 12 years of experience in the isolation and in-situ experimental of limestone colonization by Fungi.
Key Research Facilities, Infrastructure and Equipment
In the UJAT we have infrastructure for antimicrobial assay: Class II laminar flow hoods, refrigerate benchtop centrifuge, Benchtop freeze dryer lyophilizer, Bacteriological Incubators, Ovens, Incubated and refrigerated shakers, autoclave sterilizer, spectrophotometer, Microplate spectrophotometers.
Independent research premises
In the UJAT laboratory we have infrastructure to carry out antimicrobial assays of nanomaterials for the conservation of historical monuments.
Previous Involvement in Research and innovation actions
Determination of minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum fungicidal concentration, determination of antifungal properties of nanoparticles films, determination of mycelial growth inhibition, spore adhesion to solvents, examination of structural damage to fungal by scanning electron microscopy, in order to understand the mechanisms of action of the different nanocomposites to be evaluated.
Current involvement in Research and Innovation actions
UJAT will participate in the antimicrobial tests of nanomaterials in vitro and in-situ.
